Q: Can you tell me what events are happening in Columbus?
The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department is involved in many of the city's festivals and events. Call 645-3800 for additional information.
Q: Is there a city campground available? We no longer operate any public campgrounds.
Q: How far is it around the bike path in my neighborhood? It felt like you walked a mile, but you are not sure. Request a list of our paths and their mileage by calling 645-3300.
Q: Can you give me information about a metro park? The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and The Franklin County Metro Parks are different organizations. The Park you have a question about might be a metro park...if so you would need to call them at 891-0700.
Q: I've got the next... Tiger Woods, Mark McGwire, Michael Jordan, Katie Smith..... how can I sign my child up to play in a league? Call the Youth Sports Division of our Sports Office at 645-3366. They will be glad to refer you to one of our own recreation center leagues or recommend an athletic organization that offers programs in your neighborhood.
Q: How old do I need to be to participate at a senior center? You must be 50 or older take part in our senior (50+), center programming.
Q: Do I have to be a resident of Columbus to participate in programs? No. There is no residency requirement to participate...everyone is welcome.
Q: How do I rent a shelter house?(or... I want to have my wedding in a park... or... I want to have a block party? The Columbus Recreation and Parks Department's permit office handles rental of department facilities such as gyms, shelter houses and rooms. The office also issues special permits for block parties and popular wedding sites in our parks. Call 645-3337 for more information.
Q: How do I get information about programs offered in the department? If you need more information, contact the center or office directly, or call 645-3300 and our receptionist will help direct you. We have lots of information, specific and general we can get to you.
Q: Is my softball game rained out? With over 50,000 people playing softball in our department's leagues, this is one of our most frequently asked questions. That's why we've given this one question its own phone number...645-RAIN (7246) We call it the "Rain Line". Call after 4:00 PM on your game day and a recording will tell you which games are cancelled. Or, game day cancellations are also online at www.crpdsports.org.
