Recreation Volunteer

There are 27 Neighborhood Recreation Centers and six Senior (50+) Recreation Centers. They are looking for volunteers to fill Advisory Council Positions, Teachers, Mentors, Coaches, Greeters, and to help with Special Events. To be a volunteer you must fill-out an application and you must be 14 years old or more. If you are interested in receiving either an Adult Volunteer Corps Application Packet or a Columbus Kids Care Application Packet, email us your name, mailing address and phone number at volunteers@columbus.gov. Be sure to indicate if you would like an Adult or Youth Application Packet.

Holton Recreation Center is seeking volunteers for the City Wide Gymnastics & Cheerleading Program. Volunteers are needed to assist with fundraising and event support. Contact 645-3208.

Holton Community Recreation Council is looking for members to support the center's activities through fundraising and volunteer assistance. If you are interested in joining the team and making a difference contact the center director, 645-3208.

Indian Mound Recreation Center is seeking volunteers to teach a variety of classes such as drama, dance, music, youth sport coaches, front desk assistance, and to join the Indian Mound Community Recreation Council.

Far East Recreation Center is seeking volunteers to be Track and Field Coaches, Baseball Coaches, & Softball Coaches. Leagues begin the first week of April. The Far East Recreation Center is located at 1826 Lattimer Drive.

Senior (50+) Recreation

Golden Hobby Shop is a senior consignment shop for arts/crafts. The Golden Hobby Shop is locate at 630 S 3rd Street in the heart of German Village. They are seek volunteers to work Monday-Saturday from 10am-5pm. Duties include sales positions, hosts, intake & pricing, merchandise displays, Computer work. Volunteer applicants must be people/customer oriented, possess basic math skills and/or computer literate.

Barber Roselea is located at 4048 Roselea Place and overlooks the Whetstone Park of Roses.

Barber Roselea is searching for volunteers to teach a variety of classes including Calligraphy, Scrap booking, Watercolor, Weaving, and Basketry. Classes would be at either Barber Roselea Center or Whetstone Recreation Center (3923 N. High).

Barber Roselea also needs gardeners of all ages to assist in maintaining 100 of feet of gardens along the building. Eager people who don't mind weeding, fertilizing, and planting are ideal for this post. Time and date are flexible. If you are interested in lending a hand and digging in the dirt,.

Youth Sport Coaches

At locations throughout the city we need coaches for Baseball/Softball, Soccer, Flag Football, Basketball and Ice Hockey. NYSCA Certification is required. All volunteers need to fill out a application and must be 18 years old or more.

Therapeutic Recreation

Wheelchair Basketball Leagues, Wheelchair Softball, and FORE Golf. Volunteers needed for coaching, scoring, officiating (Thursays 6:00-8:00pm). An application is required and you must be at least 14 years old.

T.R. Quest Afterschool Program

Volunteers needed to assist with tutoring, mentoring, homework, activities Monday thru Friday from 2:00pm-6:00pm (flexible) during school year at Whetstone Recreation Center. Applicates must be at least 14 years old and responsible.

T.R. Aquatic Exercise Classes

Volunteers needed to assist adults with disabilities with stretching exercises. Some basic aquatic knowledge a plus.

Classes are held on Tuesdays & Thursdays beginning September at 11:00 am -1:00 pm at The Columbus Aquatic Center located at 1160 Hunter Avenue.
