A permit is required by City Code (921.01-6) for all events on City of Columbus waterways.  This includes Griggs, Hoover and O'Shaughnessy Reservoirs as well as the downtown pool of the Scioto River. To apply for a "Marine Event Permit" you must either call (at 614-645-3337) or visit the Permit and Rental Services Section (at 1111 E. Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205) to pay an application fee and receive the application to submit for a permit.
Payment of the application fee does not guarantee issuance of a permit (the application is NOT a permit). Effective January 1, 2007 the application fee for a  single date is $25.00. Two to five dates is $50.00. Six to ten dates is $100.00. For more than ten dates the application fee is $100.00 plus $10.00 for each additional date above ten. Application processing fees are not refundable.

Applications must be submitted a minimum of 30 (thirty) days prior to the first event date requested.
Applications may be submitted up to one year in advance.  All dates submitted on that application must be within the one year in advance.

The applicant/organization will be assigned a specific launch ramp and parking area at the chosen reservoir.  Watercraft participating in this event must launch and return to the assigned ramp.

Griggs Reservoir - Trabue Murphy Launch Area
Hoover Reservoir - Walnut Street Launch Area
O'Shaughnessy Reservoir - Home Road Launch Area
No money may be exchanged inside the park boundaries including entrant fees and awards.
